The Yellow Hill water reservoirs are located in the wider city centre 4 minutes from the trolleybus stops number 35, 38, 39 Tvrdého and 8 minutes from the bus stop number x4 Tvrdého. You can also reach them on foot, a 25-minute walk from Svobody Square, or by car, which can be parked in the free parking lot at the Masaryk Oncological Institute. More information.
Tickets can be purchased online here on the website, physically in the Žlutý Kopec waterworks or at the TIC BRNO information centres in Radnická and Zámečnická streets. In all cases you can pay by card.
TIC BRNO offers several ways to see the Yellow Hill water towers. No reservation is needed for a self-guided tour. Just buy a ticket for the day and come during opening hours: every day except Monday from 10:00 to 18:00 (last entry at 17:00). In this option we recommend downloading in advance the audioguide with all important information in advance.
There are also guided tours every day except Mondays for 60 minutes on the hour. Guided tours are included in the ticket price, but reservations are required, which you make here.
The Water Tanks can also be visited as part of a private group guided tour, which can be arranged by phone at +420 770 156 148 or by email at vodojemy@ticbrno.cz.
Water Tank 1 and 3 are accessible. There is reserved parking for visitors with disabilities directly at the house at Tvrdého 15.
Great decision! We recommend buying a gift voucher, which you can learn more about here.
As in most underground places, it is cooler in the water tanks all year round, around 13 °C, and humid. In warm weather, we recommend an extra layer of clothing. During the tour, you will walk through a park, one water tank has uneven flooring, and there are occasionally puddles on the ground, so we also recommend sturdy footwear.
Parking is available near the water tanks, at the freely accessible parking lot at the Masaryk Oncology Institute. There is reserved parking for visitors with disabilities directly at the house at Tvrdého 15.
The guided tours last 70 minutes, and it is up to you how much time you spend in the area. The only limit is the opening hours from 10:00 to 18:00 and the fact that the purchased ticket entitles you to one entry to each water reservoir.
Water tanks. Two brick, one concrete. Each different, yet all breathtaking. You can also spend time in the beautiful park under which the water tanks are located.
Children accompanied by adults are welcome in the water tanks. Please note that entry with a stroller is possible, but not comfortable.
Considering the safety of both you and your four-legged friends, entry with animals into the water tanks is not allowed. Entry with assistance dogs is permitted.
A free wifi network is available in the park. However, there is no signal inside the water tanks themselves, so we recommend downloading all materials and audioguides in advance.
The Žlutý kopec Water Tanks are a technical monument that we must protect. To prevent damage to it and to avoid possible injuries caused by reduced visibility, visitors are allowed to move only in designated corridors between pillars during their visit.
